The End of the Western World
Kant - Kierkegaard - Nietzsche - Heidegger
The history of the Western world is deeply shaped by the historical development of metaphysics. Every interaction we have with reality, whether consciously or unconsciously, always presupposes a certain metaphysical stance. In this course, we will examine how "the queen of all sciences" reached its final stage and why the latest thinkers felt the need to move beyond it in search of a new way of thinking. We will focus on four foundational authors in the history of Western thought: Kant, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, and Heidegger.
Teachers of the course:
Ivan Shepelev, PhD in Freiburg - I. Kant
Christoforos Kyriakidis, PhD in Freiburg - S. Kierkegaard
Luca Matano, PhD in Paris - F. Nietzsche
Edoardo Basilicò, PhD in Moscow – M. Heidegger
